The Great Lord Shiva is worshipped as in the form of 'Shivling' in every temple. Shivling represents the symbol of fertility. The reason behind worshipping Shiva as Shivling, is that, Sages of Daru Forest has cursed Shiva. When he went to live with the sages in the Daru Forest, their wives were attracted to the Lord Shiva for which the sages went on to send large antelopne and giant tiger against Shiva.

But, Shiva was very powerful and managed to face tiger wearing tiger's skin. The angry Sages then cursed Lord Shiva for his manhood, in result to which, fell off the ground. When phallus struck the ground, suddenly earthquakes occurred and resulting to which sages became afraid and asked for forgiveness from Lord Shiva. Kind Shiva forgives them but since then, Lord Shiva's Symbolic Linga is being worshipped.

Lord Shiva is known to be the creator of the world but there are only two temples in India for worshipping and praying him. This is due to a discovery of huge Shiva Linga. This discovery was made by Brahma and Vishnu. Vishnu started digging into the ground to find its end and Brahma became swan to fly upwards and find its start. When Brahma was flying upwards, he meets Ketaki flower which was floating down from the Shiv Linga. Brahma enquired Ketaki about the Shivlinga and he came to know that Ketaki Flower has been placed at the top of Shiv Linga. Brahma asks Ketaki to tell Shiva a false story about Brahma's discovery of Shiv Linga. Brahma in ego, returns to Shiva and Shiva curses him because of false tale of his discovery and So, Lord Brahma, despite of being the creator of Earth, neither he get worshipped all around the world, nor people worship shiva with ketaki flower.

-Rishi Narada cursed Lord Vishnu
Rishi Narada was the greatest devotee of Lord Vishnu. He has strong meditation and powers that nobody could be able to disturb him from his meditation. The interesting story behind a devotee giving curse to his Lord began when Rishi Narada was taking pride of the fact that he was above and he had conquered Kamadeva. Lord Shiva warned him to restrict this thought upto himself and not to boast it outside world. But he was pride and he could not listen to Lord Shiva. One day, Rishi Narada was going to attend swayamvara of princess and with the help of his lord, he wanted to take pride of marrying Princess of the Kingdom ruled by king Sheenidhi. For that, he asked for help from Lord Vishnu to get face of Hari so that Princess must select him during the Swayamvar. In help he asked Lord Vishnu to provide him face of Hari. Lord shiva wanted to make him realize of his mistakes and provided him face of Monkey. Since, Princess, in an illusion, selected him but till then every King present there has made fun of him and laughed at him. This could hurt him and so, he cursed Lord Vishnu that in one form of Lord Vishnu (Rama), he would be separated from his wife and would be helped only by a monkey. That is why Lord Rama was helped by Lord Hanuman when Ravana kidnapped Sita.

Bhrigu's curse to Vishnu
-Sage Bhrigu cursed Lord Vishnu
A short tale about Lord Vishnu being cursed by Sage Bhrigu, started after when Shukracharya was defeated in every battle from Asura's and seeks help from Lord Shiva. Asura's were scared that Lord Shiva is very powerful and if he will help Shukracharya and will give him the powers then they would be defeated. So, they hide in the Sage Bhrigu's Ashram and ask for help from the Bhrigu's wife. She, in the absence of Bhrigu, decides to help them and ask Vishnu to free Indra for Asura's help. But after a long Conversation, angry Vishnu cuts the head of Bhrigu's wife from the Sudarshana Chakra. When Sage Bhrigu returns he finds his wife lying without head and then he curses Lord Vishnu to be born many times on earth and suffer the pain of Death.
